MICHAEL BOZEMAN
THERAPIST IN BIRMINGHAM & oxford | director of church engagement // MA, MACE, LPC
Michael Bozeman came to Pathways after serving for over a decade in the local church as a licensed and ordained pastor, ministering to students. His love for the Lord and people are the driving force behind his desire to be a counselor.
Michael’s experience in student ministry gives him a unique opportunity to incorporate a Christ-centered approach to counseling. He uses different approaches in working with his clients, based on the client’s need. He says that his two main approaches would be cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or brief solution-focused therapy (BSFT). Michael has a strong desire to aid individuals in understanding how poor cognitions effect their everyday life. He loves coming alongside them, to help change maladaptive thoughts so that they can come to their own solutions.
Michael is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is also certified to administer PREPARE/ENRICH Assessments, a tool for pre-marital/marital counseling. Michael is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), helping individuals process trauma. He has also attended the Gottman Institute Training for marriage counseling.
He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Jacksonville State University.
Michael has been with Pathways since August of 2016.
